Italy
Chianti Ultra Trail by UTMB®
Chianti Ultra Trail by UTMB® is much more than a simple trail running race; it weaves together sport, history, and culture in the heart of Tuscany’s Chianti Storico region.
The hills between Radda, Gaiole, and Castellina in Chianti, with their vineyards, olive groves, and medieval villages, tell centuries of borderland history between the ancient Republics of Florence and Siena, offering athletes a landscape that seems to have emerged from a Renaissance painting.
The various race distances — 10, 20, 46, 75, up to the 120 km Ultra Trail Chianti Castles — follow white gravel roads and paths that once connected castles and historic residences.
An opportunity also to enjoy the local food and wine tradition, with winery visits, tastings of the renowned Chianti Classico, and tours of ancient castles that enhance the cultural heritage of the area.
The event has become a symbol of contemporary Tuscany: a meeting place for runners from all over the world who, through athletic challenge and cultural discovery, celebrate the beauty, history, and flavors of one of Italy’s most iconic regions.
