Regina Margherita Trail
Queen Margherita of Savoy, the first sovereign of the Kingdom of Italy, had elected Gressoney as her favourite summer vacation spot, and this race is a fantastic way to honour her memory! The route is an incredible 15-kilometre loop with about 650 metres of elevation gain that passes through the lovely towns of Gressoney-Saint-Jean and Gressoney-La-Trinité, as well as the traditional Walser villages of Alpenzu Piccolo and Alpenzu Grande. In the last section, the race joins the famous Queen's Walk, so called because it is the trail that Margherita of Savoy often walked, starting from her summer home, the fairy-tale Savoy Castle. This is an ideal race for those who want to approach the discipline of trail running while exploring Gressoney – what a great way to get started!
